RenterVaultby App Developments

Privacy Policy

Effective September 24, 2026

The short version: RenterVault does not collect anything. There is no account, no server of ours, and no analytics. Your inventory, photos and documents stay on your devices and in your own iCloud Drive. If you allow Private Cloud Compute, a question you ask (with the library details or policy text it needs), a policy or declarations page you have RenterVault read, or the list of your belongings for Check before you file can be handled by Apple's Private Cloud Compute. Apple runs it, not us, and we never receive it.

What RenterVault stores

Everything you enter — item names, values, serial numbers, photos, receipts, policy details and documents — is written to the app's own storage on your Mac, iPhone or iPad. It is never transmitted to us. It isn't sent anywhere else either, except to your own iCloud Drive when sync is on (see iCloud sync below), and to Apple's Private Cloud Compute when you allow it (see Apple Intelligence below). We have no ability to read it, recover it, or hand it to a third party, because we never receive it.

iCloud sync

When you are signed in to iCloud and leave "Keep in sync across your devices" on, the app keeps its library in your own iCloud Drive so your Mac, iPhone and iPad show the same shelves. That data is stored by Apple under your Apple Account and Apple's iCloud terms; we cannot see it. Turn the switch off in Settings and the library stays on the one device only.

Apple Intelligence

RenterVault uses Apple Intelligence on a Mac, iPhone or iPad that supports it and has it turned on.

Photos are always read on your device. Serial labels, receipts, photos of your belongings and photos of a room are read by Apple's on-device model and text recognition. They are never sent to Private Cloud Compute.

Questions and policies are answered on your device, or by Private Cloud Compute with your permission. Simple questions about your belongings are answered on your device; one can go to Private Cloud Compute only when your device's model can't answer it at the moment (for example while it is still downloading, or busy), and only if you allow it. A bigger question, any question about your policy's wording, reading a whole policy, and the second look in Check before you file (with Pro), and a declarations page your device can't read right now (too long for it, or its model busy or unavailable; on any plan), can use Apple's Private Cloud Compute — Apple's own cloud system for Apple Intelligence — but only if you allow it. RenterVault asks each time unless you choose otherwise in RenterVault's Settings, under Apple Intelligence: Never, Ask each time, or Automatically for bigger jobs. Choosing "Always for bigger jobs" on a question's card turns on Automatically for bigger jobs for all of these.

What is sent, and only when you allow it:

What Apple says about Private Cloud Compute. Apple says Private Cloud Compute uses what it receives only to answer the request, doesn't keep it, and doesn't make it available to anyone, Apple included, and that independent researchers can check these promises. Read Apple's own description: Private Cloud Compute. We don't run it, and we never receive what is sent. Requests count toward a daily Private Cloud Compute limit on your iCloud account; when it is used up, RenterVault answers on your device until it resets.

Turning it off. Choose Never for Private Cloud Compute in RenterVault's Settings › Apple Intelligence to keep everything on your device, or switch off Use Apple Intelligence in RenterVault to stop using Apple Intelligence in the app. Exact questions, such as how much coverage you have left, are answered either way.

What we collect about you

Nothing. We do not operate servers that receive your data. We do not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising identifiers, tracking pixels, or third-party SDKs. We do not know how many items you have documented or what they are.

Purchases

RenterVault Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment and tells the app whether a valid purchase exists. We never see your name, payment card, billing address or Apple ID. Apple's handling of that transaction is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Network activity

RenterVault makes no network requests to any server of ours. The App Store handles purchases, iCloud Drive handles sync, and — only if you allow it — Apple's Private Cloud Compute answers some questions, reads policies and declarations pages, and reviews your belongings for Check before you file. All of these are Apple's own services.

Your backups

Exporting a backup or CSV writes a file wherever you choose to save it. Once that file leaves the app it is yours to look after — treat it like any other document containing a list of your valuables, and store it somewhere you control.

Deleting your data

Settings contains an "Erase everything" option that permanently clears all items, photos and documents, including the copy in your iCloud Drive. Deleting the app removes its storage on that device. Because we hold no copy, there is nothing for you to request from us and nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

Children

RenterVault is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
